How to set up IPTV on an LG Smart TV with webOS

LG Smart TVs run webOS. With an IPTV player from LG's app store and your Nagare login details, you can be watching in a few minutes. This guide also covers older LG models and picture settings.

Before you start

  • Your Nagare login details: server address, port, username and password.
  • Your TV connected to the internet, ideally by cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • The latest TV software: open Settings, then General or Support, then Software Update.

Install an IPTV player from the LG store

Nagare is not affiliated with these apps. Some are paid or offer a trial period, so check the description and reviews before buying.

  1. Press the Home button on the remote and open the app store (called LG Content Store or Apps, depending on the model).
  2. Search for an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes login.
  3. Install the app and open it from the Home bar.

Enter your login details

  1. Choose the Xtream Codes (or "username and password") login in the app.
  2. Type the server address with http:// and the port, for example http://server-address:8080.
  3. Type your username and password carefully. The LG Magic Remote pointer makes this quicker than the arrow keys.
  4. Save and wait for the channels to load.

Older LG TVs (NetCast and early webOS)

LG TVs from before roughly 2016 either run NetCast or an early webOS version with a limited app selection. If you cannot find a compatible player, use an external device instead: an Amazon FireStick or Android TV box connected to an HDMI port gives you the full range of apps and is usually faster.

Picture and sound tips

  • For sport, try the Sports or Standard picture mode and turn off TruMotion if movement looks unnatural.
  • If sound and picture drift apart, check the player app's audio delay setting.
  • If the app slows down, close it fully or restart the TV.
